Ranks wrote: These shinobi ranks measure your character and his/her abilities. Within ranks are sub-levels that your character goes through as he or she level up. These sub-levels, however, do not apply to your categories or stats. Use this table as a guide to leveling up.Genin wrote: -A Category that is genin level allows you to use techniques in that category up to C-rank.Rookie Genin

Your categories are the main things that make up a ninja. Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu, and Special Ability (kekkei genkai, bijuu, etc.) These categories are colored blue. Stats are abilities that rely on these categories. These stats are colored green.
Initially, your stats mimic the ranks of your categories.Taijutsu wrote:

Stat Customization wrote:
Beyond this, you are allowed to customize your stats, allowing you to diversify your stat sheet.
Stat customization is simple. You may take one rank from two seperate stats, or two ranks from one single stat to add a rank to another stat. These additions and subtractions must be marked on your stat sheet.
You may also add points to your taijutsu, ninjutsu, or genjutsu categories using stat customization. However, these increases and decreases will not affect the stats connected to these categories. You may not use stat customization to increase your Special Ability category.
About Ninjutsu Specialization wrote:
Ninjutsu specialization allows you to take one type of ninjutsu, such as fuinjutsu (sealing techniques), and base it off of that stat. Meaning you can be a master of fuinjutsu while possessing only an average level of skill with the rest of your ninjutsu through the use of stat customization.
Sample Stat Sheet wrote:
This is an example stat sheet of a veteran jounin.
- Spoiler:
Name: Annonymous.
Rank: Veteran Jounin.
Taijutsu: Jounin
Strength: Jounin (-1 = Chuunin)
Speed: Jounin (+1 = S-rank)
Vitality: Jounin (-1 = Chuunin)
Reflexes: Jounin
Ninjutsu: S-Rank
Chakra Capacity: S-rank
Ninjutsu Specialization: S-rank (-1 = Jounin)
Seal speed: S-rank
Genjutsu: Chuunin
Chakra Control: Chuunin
Genjutsu Resistance: Chuunin (+1 = Jounin)
Seal reduction: Chuunin (-1 = Genin)
Special: S-Rank

Chakra Control (genjutsu)
Genjutsu Resistance (genjutsu)
Seal reduction (genjutsu)
You start off as a rookie genin with genin being your score in all categories. All of your stats are linked to your category, so you would have genin in all categories, and all stats. I'm putting the categories in Blue and the stats in Green.Taijutsu: Genin
Strength: Genin
Speed: Genin
Vitality: Genin
Reflexes: Genin
Ninjutsu: Genin
Chakra Capacity: Genin
Ninjutsu Specialization: Genin
Seal speed: Genin
Genjutsu: Genin
Chakra Control: Genin
Genjutsu Resistance: Genin
Seal reduction: Genin
Special: Genin
Then, according to the chart at the top of this page, as a rookie genin, you get +1 category rank, meaning you are allowed to rank up one category from genin to chuunin. When you do this, all of the stats attached to that category increase by one rank as well. So after applying your category rank (for this example we will use taijutsu), your stat sheet will look like this:As you continue to level up, you gain more category ranks as listed on the table at the top of the page.Taijutsu: Chuunin
Strength: Chuunin
Speed: Chuunin
Vitality: Chuunin
Reflexes: Chuunin
Ninjutsu: Genin
Chakra Capacity: Genin
Ninjutsu Specialization: Genin
Seal speed: Genin
Genjutsu: Genin
Chakra Control: Genin
Genjutsu Resistance: Genin
Seal reduction: Genin
Special: Genin
Beyond that, you are able to customize your stats by taking two ranks from another stat, or one rank from two other stats, to increase a stat by one rank. So if you wanted to increase your chakra capacity, but didn't care to have chuunin level strength or vitality, you could do this. Make sure you note these changes on your stat sheet.Taijutsu: Chuunin
Strength: Chuunin (-1 = genin)
Speed: Chuunin
Vitality: Chuunin (-1 = genin)
Reflexes: Chuunin
Ninjutsu: Genin
Chakra Capacity: Genin (+1 = Chuunin)
Ninjutsu Specialization: Genin
Seal speed: Genin
Genjutsu: Genin
Chakra Control: Genin
Genjutsu Resistance: Genin
Seal reduction: Genin
Special: Genin
You can also use stat customization to increase your category scores. However, doing this through stat customization will not increase all linked stats. Say on top of the changes you already made with stat customization, you wanted to increase your genjutsu casting capabilities, but don't need a ninjutsu specialization or chuunin-level taijutsu skill.Taijutsu: Chuunin (-1 = Genin)
Strength: Chuunin (-1 = genin)
Speed: Chuunin
Vitality: Chuunin (-1 = genin)
Reflexes: Chuunin
Ninjutsu: Genin
Chakra Capacity: Genin (+1 = Chuunin)
Ninjutsu Specialization: Genin (-1 = none)
Seal speed: Genin
Genjutsu: Genin (+1 = Chuunin)
Chakra Control: Genin
Genjutsu Resistance: Genin
Seal reduction: Genin
Special: Genin
So let's say you level up from rookie genin to genin. According to the chart, you get another +1 category rank. We're going to go ahead and add it to your ninjutsu category. This is what it will look like.Taijutsu: Chuunin (-1 = Genin)
Strength: Chuunin (-1 = genin)
Speed: Chuunin
Vitality: Chuunin (-1 = genin)
Reflexes: Chuunin
Ninjutsu: Chuunin
Chakra Capacity: Chuunin (+1 = Jounin)
Ninjutsu Specialization: Chuunin (-1 = Genin)
Seal speed: Chuunin
Genjutsu: Genin (+1 = Chuunin)
Chakra Control: Genin
Genjutsu Resistance: Genin
Seal reduction: Genin
Special: Genin
This process continues whenever you level up.
Remember to pay attention to your stat and category caps listed on the chart at the top of the page when adding in category ranks.
